My opinion on "The Lemon Orchard"

After reading and analyzing the story "The Lemon Orchard" and working on the characteristics of a book review, we had to write one about the story we'd raed before.
Here is my book review, hope you enjoy it!

The Lemon Orchard is a story written by Alex La Guma in 1962. It is set in South Africa during the Apartheid policy, in which colored people were inferior than white people and didn’t have the same rights that white people had. 

The story is about a colored man, who is taken away away from his house not only because he gives his opinion towards a white man, but also because he was a teacher. Once the white men go to his house, they take him to a lemon orchard, where they were going to “teach him a lesson”. 

La Guma does a perfect job describing the character’s feelings throughout the story. The colored man is mainly scared to talk to the white people and seems a bit confused. While the white men were both rude and violent, but most of all, they don’t show any mercy towards the colored man, or as they called him, Hotnot. 

To sum up, the story is very realistic and I would really recommend it if you want to have an image of how the atmosphere was during the apartheid policy times.

Don't trust the witches!

Using some lines in Macbeth, we created our own play. We analyzed different versions of Macbeth and we focused on the misé-en-scene (costumes, lighting, sound, etc)
