Creando nuestros personajes!

Durante el año estuvimos trabajando con un proyecto en Arte. En este trabajamos con distintos animales dela Patagonia Argentina y con ellos teníamos que crear un personaje. Aquí les dejo una presentación con los distintos pasos que lidiaron a los dibujos finales.

El cambio pasa por nosotros

Luego de haber leído la Carta del Jefe Seattle o Piel Roja, redacté un texto relacionando el contenido de la carta, el texto de la Promesa ambiental y los temas: equilibrio ecológico y ecosistema. Aquí les dejo mi trabajo:

¿Qué es la naturaleza? La naturaleza es lo que nos rodea, la que nos brinda los recursos necesarios para vivir, sin ella no estaríamos vivos. Sabiendo esto, ¿Por qué la tratamos como la tratamos? 

Hay gente, que a diferencia de otros, no cuidan la naturaleza como corresponde. Esta gente abusa de todo lo que la naturaleza le da sin pensar en que hay otras personas para las cuales la naturaleza es sagrada y no se les ocurriría tratarla como la tratamos nosotros. La gente de hoy en día no se da cuenta de que el cambio pasa por nosotros y que todo lo que le hacemos a la naturaleza ella nos lo va a devolver. Hay que tratar a la naturaleza como una madre, ya que eso es lo que es, nuestra madre; y a los animales hay que tratarlos como unos hermanos ya que una vez que desaparezcan nos vamos a dar cuenta lo solitarios que nos sentimos sin ellos. 

El cambio pasa por nosotros,

Una manera distinta de concientizar

Al haber pasado el día de la tierra, Google hizo un "doodle" sobre este. En este doodle, se contaba una historia, la cual se trataba de tres amigos, quienes, luego de que uno de ellos se de cuenta de los problemas que hay hoy en día en la tierra, buscan soluciones a estos problemas causados por los humanos. Algunas de estas soluciones eran: transportarse por bicicleta en vez de autos; elegir verduras antes de carnes; buscar nuevos tipos de energía que no sean eléctricos; y por ultimo buscar maneras de ahorrar energía, como por ejemplo: apagar las luces y desenchufar los que no se esta usando.

Throughout the year, we’ve been reading a book called “Wonder” by R.J Palacio. After we read it, we did an activity in groups, which consisted in choosing characters of the story and describing his or her personality and the relationship between that character with the main character, August.
“Wonder” is a really good book, which leaves a beautiful message and teaches you a lesson which for me is to treat people the way you want to be treated and that it’s ok to be different.

Aprendiendo de una manera diferente...

En clase estuvimos trabajando con las plantas vasculares y sus partes. Debido a esto, la profesora nos dio una consigna la cual consistía en transformar una imagen de una planta vascular en un aimagen interactiva, es decir, con videos, imágenes y con información.

Experimentándo en el laboratorio

Durante estos días, estuvimos hablando sobre la nutrición de las plantas. Dentro de este tema, esta cuales son las partes de una planta, los tipos y sus funciones. Luego de haber hablado sobre esto en el aula, fuimos al laboratorio para comprobar las funciones, en este caso, de las raises.
Hicimos 2 experimentos: uno era con una zanahoria y el otro con una papa y una batata

El primer experimento fue el de la zanahoria. Para este, la profesora le hizo un agujero en la parte de arriba de la zanahoria, la cual secó y luego le pusimos azúcar dentro. Después de eso, la pusimos en un vaso con agua y la profesora nos pregunto qué podríamos hacer para darnos cuenta que la zanahoria había absorbido el agua, y llegamos a la conclusión de que, no sólo nos iba mos a dar cuenta viendo si el azúcar estaba seca o no, sino que había que marcar el nivel del agua para luego ver si había bajado, es decir, cuanta agua había absorbido la zanahoria. Luego de hacer esto, esperamos un rato hasta que nos dimos cuenta de que el azúcar que habíamos puesto previamente estaba totalmente disuelta en agua que estaba dentro de la zanahoria, la cual antes estaba seca.

En esta imagen se puede ver cómo el azúcar se iba mojando a través del tiempo. 

El segundo experimento que hicimos fue, a una batata y a una papa, tirarle gotas de un líquido llamado "lugol", el cual, al juntarse con el almidón tenga una reacción extraña. Esta sustancia hace que la papa y la batata, las cuales contienen almidón, cambien a un color azul oscuro. La batata, al contener mayor cantidad de almidón, cambió de color más rápido al entrar en contacto con el lugol, mientras que la papa tardó un poco más.

En estas imágenes se pueden ver los cambios que sufrieron la papa (arriba), en la cual el tinte no fue tan pigmentado, y la batata, la cual, no sólo tuvo un cambio inmediato, sino, también el tinte es más oscuro

Population growth

In class we have been working with population growth. We watched some videos and we had to take some screenshots and writhe what we thaught about that, then, we had to write a text explainin all we saw in the videos. 

Here is my work:

The planet provides us space, to build cities, fields, for agriculture and energy, to live.

The population will grow and grow as a result of how we are making things go, and in 2025 we are going to double the number of food that the world consume.

This phrase make us think about the world and us, and show the reality that sometimes we cant see.

Population grew because of the increase of agriculture and medicine.

In 200 years world's population increased six times what it was before, making us now being 7 billion persons on the Earth. Before there were more death rates than birth rates because of the lack of sources, like food and medicine, but now-a-days the death rates reduced because of the increasing ok knowlege and sources. But we dont have to think that more population is better because this can cause over-consuption, that cause environmental problems like global warming, and many people are not consious of these consequences. Some things we can do to help the planet are, reduce consuption and find sustainable solutions, for example, using bycicles instead of cars. Also start a family plan, which means to have a plan so you can have how many kids you want, but baring concious about how to manage your life with your children and be careful with that topic, or we can empower women by giving them access to food and education.

One of the ways to messure the population is by population pyramids that are divided in women and men of different ages and can predict the future and talk about the past. Each country have different pyramids depending on their population.

 It depends on us if the workd continues being what it is.

Pluto, the alien

In class we were told to create an alien, describe it in five sentences and after that draw it
Here is my work:

This colourful thing with an adorable face and a part of his brain showing is Pluto. Pluto cat mes from Mars, where he likes being with his family and friends, but his favourite thing to do is eating whatever his mother cooks. The only thing he doesn't like is when humans think he is going to hurt them, when the last thing he wants to do is to hurt them. He has big blue eyes, a tiny nose and big cheeks that makes him really young, even though his age is unknown. Pluto also has an incredible ability that is that he can make any sound he wants, this gives him the possibility or imitate other people voices!

In class we were told to write a description of a picture we had to select from a folder which contained a lot of pictutes.After that a mate had to guess which picture I chose.
Here is my description:

In the picture the I chose there is a white, fatty bear, who, for me, seems to be happy because of his expression, which makes me think his happy. This bear has colourful clothes as a rainbow on which have a pretty design on them. For me he looks like he is posing for a picture.  

SOFI'S COMMENT: For me this bear is a friendly one with no evil intentions and with a very happy life. He looks like a stuffed-animal.

A very strange day...

It all started the morning of 5th December, 1872. The Dei Gratia was sailing, me, my mates and our captain, but suddenly we saw a strange ship sailing, the Mary Celeste. We stopped a moment to watch it. This was alerting, so our captain decided we'll go to see what was going on.

We entered to the Mary Celeste and we realised something that scared the hole crew, there was nobody there, after that we saw a half-eaten breakfast and a lot of water, like if someone was interrupted having breakfast. The scariest part was that there was a cutlass with blood on the floor. As we saw that we all wanted to go back to the Dei Gratia, and so we did. As soon as we got back to our ship we reported this really scary scene to the police, but they thought we were crazy.

Time passed by and we were still concerned about the Mary Celeste, it had been 7 months since we watch that horrible thing on that strange ship. But one day i received a letter, it said that they had news of what happened that day and that all of the crew that was present that day had to go to the main police office of the town. We went, without an idea of what was going to happen.

The news were really strange, we'd never have thought some thing like that could happened. The Mary Celeste was a ship without to many people on it, but the ones who were there had many problems, especially with debts to a group of people that were really dangerous. So one day that people decided to ask for the money that they had to charge, so they went to the Mary Celeste in a ship to ask for it. As the sailors didn't have the money because they surprised them, they were killed. They took all the bodies to their ship and cleaned the blood, but they forgot to clean something, and that's how the cutlass with blood was there.

This was definitely the strangest thing that could ever happened, but as the police investigate the Mary Celeste, they found the people and now they are on jail.

Visita al la ciudad de La Plata

El día miércoles 17/05 fuimos de visita a la ciudad de La Plata, en esta fuimos a l a catedral y al Museo de Ciencias Naturales de La Plata. Primero fuimos del colegio a la catedral, en la cual teníamos que observar la arquitectura, como los ventanales y su estructura. Luego, almorzamos en un parque y al terminar partimos a la siguiente parada, el Museo de Ciencias Naturales. Allí hicimos una visita guiada, pero nos centramos en los animales de la Patagonia, ya que en arte estamos viendo los animales de esta región. Un ves terminada la visita guiada, tuvimos que dibujar un animal y un dinosaurio de la Patagonia. Después de un rato de dibujar, partimos de vuelta al colegio.
Así concluye nuestra visita a la Ciudad de La Plata.

Summary of Steve Irwin

Irwin's death

Steve Irwin, who was a wildlife worior, died on September, 2006 while he was snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reaf, Australia, filming a filming a documentary he was killed by a stingray, which stuck him with its barb. 

His life

Irwin was married to a woman with whom have had two children. He appeared in Animal Planet and Discovery that's why he was a global phenomenon and he also had his own zoo

Problems he faced

During 2004 he had two main problems: one was that on January he was accused of child abuse because he was seen holding his child while feedin a cocodrile. The other one was on June, when he came too close to some whales, seals and penguins so he disturbed then, while filming a documentary in Antartica

Summary of Edison's childhood

In class we red an article about Thomas Edison childhood.
The article said that he has been a curious person, especially during his childhood. At the age of three, he almost drowned in a grain elevator just because he wanted to know how the elevators worked.
When he was seven, his mother took him out of school an she started to teach him on his own, just because the teachers thought he was stupid since he was always asking questions. Later on, he set up a chemistry lab on his basement.
At the age of twelve he sold candies and newspapers on a train so he could earn money to buy chemicals. He stopped doing this because one day he started a fire on a part of the train. Finally when he was sixteen, he was given the chance to be a telegraph operator and he became as fascinated with electricity as he was with chemistry.

Romeo and Juliet

The Verona times

Two young lovers are found dead

Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet were found dead after falling in love and getting married. As their families hated each other they decided to keep it as a secret. Days before Juliet getting married with Count Paris, she poisoned herself so she looked dead and she wasn't going to marry Count Paris because she didn't wanted to. When Romeo saw her he thought she was dead so he decided to drink some poison so he could be dead as Juliet;  but Juliet wasn't dead so when she woke up she saw Romeo dead so she stabbed herself.

After all of this, the two families decided to   leave in peace. But don't forget that this costed the death of two young lovers.

La evolución del hombre

En clase estuvimos viendo la evolución del hombre. Nos pidieron que veamos un veamos un Documental sobre la evolución del hombre y que le sacemos una foto a las partes que nos llamaron la atención.

Esta fue la primera foto que elegí. En esta imagen se puede ver el esqueleto de Lucy, la primera Australopithecus encontrada. Me pareció muy interesante que las partes que faltan, es decir las que están en violeta, se pueden encontrar del otro lado

Acá se puede ver una huella dejada por un Australopithecus. Un día un volcán entró en erupción y las cenizas volaron por todos lados, luego llovió y se izo una pasta parecido al cemento. Mientras que esa pasta estaba seca, dos Australopithecus salieron a caminar y al pisar quedaron las huellas. Con ellas ahora se puede saber cómo caminaban y cuánto medían.    

En esta imagen se puede ver cómo un homo erectus está comiendo un pedazo de carne cruda, la cual estaba en este estado porque todavía no había dominado el fuego, este hecho sucede después. La carne cruda es muy difícil de cortar, por eso los homo erectus coartaban la carne con una piedra la cual al golpearla se partía y se hacía filosa.                                                                                                                                                                                       

Zeus: el dios del trueno

En clase nos pidieron que, con un compañero, hagamos una infografia sobre un dios griego. A nosotros nos toco el dios Zeus.

Sordos ambientales

Esta imagen me hace entender que los humanos no se dan cuenta que talando árboles no sólo le saca el lugar de vivir a los animales, si no también perjudica a los humanos. En mi caso no vivo con sordos ambientales, ya que la gente cercana a mi piensa que está mal.

Una solución posible, para mí, podría ser que se informen sobre lo que le hace a la naturaleza talar árboles y lo que nos hace a nosotros. 

A mí me parece que si dieran cuenta lo podrían evitar. 

Alaska - Argentina Project

In language through literature we've been working in a project about exchanging letters with some children from Alaska. When we went to the post office to deliver our letters, a woman entered and started shouting bad things; even though it was a bit scary, it was also very fun! After reading some of them we lerned a lot of new things about Alaska like that they have the tallest a montain in North America or that they have to go hunting

La tierra nos necesita

Como el 22/04 fue el día de la tierra. En clase ví un video, el cual daba un mensaje muy lindo, que para mí era que todos queremos cosas materiales, y al tenerlo todo aún queremos más. Esto daña la naturaleza, y de alguna forma estamos destruyendo el planeta.

El título era "Give Earth a Hand", estoy de acuerdo con el, ya que el video básicamente trata sobre que con nuestra manos podemos cambiar el mundo, aunque parezca muy difícil, es verdad.

¿En que pensamos cuando pensamos en héroes?

En la clase de Prácticas del Lenguaje, estuvimos leyendo sobre los héroes según los antiguos griegos, y nos dimos cuenta de lo que pensamos nosotros ahora sobre un héroe no es lo mismo que creían en esa época.

Para los antiguos griegos un héroe, también llamado semidiós, era el hijo de un dios y un humano, el cual tenía características con las cuales podías diferenciarlos. Una de ellas era una marca, o un rasgo físico, como la velocidad o la fuerza o también una marca en el cuerpo como una cicatriz. También podía ser que lleven un objeto que los caracterizaba. Otra de las características podía ser un rasgo interno. 

Alguno de los héroes nombrados eran: Aquiles, que se caracterizaba por su velocidad y fuerza, Edipo, que tenía los tobillos marcados y Odiseo, que se destacaba su astucia. Para mí "ser un héroe" significa realizar una azania heroica, es decir una acción arriesgada con el el fin de hacer el bien. Un ejemplo podría ser una señora, que vi en un programa, que manejaba un micro escolar y se le prendió  fuego. Esta, una vez que los niños habían bajado, entro a ver si había quedado alguno adentro (una vez que el micro estaba ya totalmente prendido fuego) Esta hazaña me párese digna de un "héroe"

Hipertensión: Menos es más

Se comprobó que consumir menos sal es más saludable  

Recientemente la Sociedad Argentina de Hipertensión Arterial, aseguró que reduciendo la cantidad de sal o comiendo menos alimentos "industrializados", los cuales contienen mucha sal, es equivalente a caminar diariamente 30 minutos

En las ciudades, tres de cada diez mayores de 18, son hipertensos. Sobre más de 20 efectos positivos de seis cambios del estilo de vida indica que es posible disminuir más de 20 milímetros de mercurio. 

Si bien los tratamientos farmacológicos son efectivos para el tratamiento de la hipertensión arterial, se recomienda un tratamiento integral para mejores resultados.  Llevar una dieta saludable incorporando frutas y verduras, hacer ejercicio y bajar el consumo de sodio, sería el ideal para lograr un mejor estilo de vida.
